Assistant Controller

Bedford, Nova Scotia

Our client, a well established leader in the Construction Industry, is looking for an Assistant Controller to join their growing team in Bedford, NS.  This newly created role will report to the CEO/CFO and is a full time, permanent opportunity.

Key Responsibilities:

The ideal candidate will have solid accounting knowledge, and duties will include, however not limited to:

  • Entering accounting transactions for payroll and accounts receivable
  • 50% of the time will be spent recording time cards for payroll and client invoicing

Remainder of the time will be:

  • Preparing summary reports for analysis of actual results to budgets
  • Collecting on past due receivables
  • Remittances for payroll and HST
  • Preparing monthly financial statements
  • Other Assistant Controller functions as assigned

Key Requirements:

  • Post secondary education in accounting
  • Thorough with good attention to detail
  • Minimum of 3-5 years relevant experience in a similar capacity
  • Strong computer skills, MS Office and Sage
  • Organized, able to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Self starter who takes initiative
  • Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills
