Habitat for Humanity Nova Scotia is affiliated with Habitat for Humanity Canada and operates throughout the province.  Its primary objective is to provide home ownership opportunities for low income working Nova Scotian families.  The Head office and staff of fourteen operate from Dartmouth and there are volunteer Chapters throughout Nova Scotia.

Reporting to the Provincial Board of Directors, Chief Executive Officer provides strategic and operational leadership to staff and volunteers in carrying out the mandate of Habitat for Humanity Nova Scotia. The CEO fosters a results-driven culture of collaboration and cooperation and ensure that the organization’s priorities and activities are aligned with its mission, core values and strategic goals.

The CEO will support the Society’s mission, vision and goals through oversight and operational management of all organizational elements, including: fund development, marketing, communications, public affairs, homes construction, operation of the ReStore, human resources, volunteer engagement, and finance and administration.  The CEO will provide effective coaching to the senior management team and effective governance support to the Provincial Board of Directors. Serving as the primary spokesperson for the organization, the CEO will effectively liaise with critical stakeholders including government, funders as well as provincial, regional and national colleagues and partners. The CEO will be hands on with business development activities and effectively manage a wide variety of tasks, challenges and competing priorities. Through excellent relationship building, the CEO will cultivate donors, volunteers and community partners.

The successful candidate will have a post-secondary education with at least three years’ experience in a similarly challenging executive leadership role. He/she will have demonstrable experience exercising fiscal responsibilities; volunteer and donor management, business development; and high profile communications. This role requires a highly motivated individual, who is a visionary planner and a team player able to work with staff and volunteers located across the Province.
