Chief Mine Engineer
Baie Verte, Newfoundland
Our client, an entrepreneurial junior mining company that owns the Ming Mine copper-gold property, located on the Baie Verte Peninsula of Newfoundland and Labrador is seeking a Chief Mining Engineer to join their Engineering Department as they embark on a planned expansion of the existing mine and mill operations.
Reporting to the General Manager and indirectly to the Vice President of Technical Services, the specific responsibilities include: Ensuring engineering work products are consistent with regulatory and company policies and production. Lead and coordinate the mining engineering support functions (surveying, ventilation, rock mechanics, mine planning and scheduling, reserve management, budgeting) with other departments. Collaborate with the Mine Superintendent and the Geology department to ensure approved mine production targets are achieved. Build achievable short and long-term mining plans in line with strategic and tactical objectives. Lead site strategic planning and budgeting efforts. Identify production and planning opportunities and recommend action plans. Hiring, training, and developing departmental staff. Build beneficial partnerships with appropriate vendors, engineering firms, industry professionals, government departments, and other stakeholders.
As the successful candidate will have a B.Sc. Mine Engineering, registration or eligibility for registration with PEGNL and 10 years of engineering and/or mine production experience in underground hard rock operations. You have experience in preparing short and long term mine production and development schedules and have a focus on safe production. Previous experience using modeling, mine planning and scheduling software and conducting feasibility/pre-feasibility studies is required.
