Chief Power Engineer (2nd Class)

Truro, Nova Scotia

We are seeking a Chief Power Engineer for our client in Truro, Nova Scotia.

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Chief Power Engineer will be responsible for managing the boiler room as well as leading a team of Boiler Engineers and working in close conjunction with the Maintenance Supervisor. As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for managing three boilers (600 hp & 725 hp) and liaising between the boiler room and production departments.  You will develop strong working relationships with the Department of Environment and Labour Nova Scotia and become an Environmental Leader for all energy conservation projects ensuring applicable federal, provincial and municipal regulatory compliance. You will be responsible for identifying and coordinating training requirements for the team and maintenance within the department. The Chief Power Engineer participates in the monthly operational/budget review process and maintains an active and open dialogue with the union to promote safe work practices, product and equipment ownership and continuous improvement within all departments.

As the ideal candidate, you will have a 2nd Class Power Engineer Certification (Interprovincial or Nova Scotia) combined with a minimum of 5 years of experience in an industrial environment. You will have experience with process improvement (Lean, 5S, Six Sigma and/or World Class Manufacturing) and promote health & safety and environmental initiatives.
