Controls Technician

Chester, Nova Scotia

Sustane Technologies Inc. is a clean technology company focused on waste transformation. Sustane has developed and is commercializing a set of disruptive processes to transform municipal solid waste (MSW) streams into high value fuels and recyclable materials.

Sustane's core concept is the complete separation of MSW and their technology breakthrough delivers pure products that were not previously possible.  The result is unprecedented value recovery and waste diversion levels with the potential to practically eliminate landfills in the future. Sustane believes that current consumption and waste patterns are simply not sustainable and that we must fundamentally challenge how we sustain ourselves on this planet.

Their first North American facility will be coming on line in Chester, Nova Scotia, in the Spring of 2018. This facility has a capacity of 70,000 tonnes per year of MSW. On behalf of Sustane Chester, we are seeking a Controls Technician to join their growing team.

As the Controls Technician, you will work closely with the production team to deploy, maintain and improve the process control equipment (PLC’s drives, measurement and control devices) that control the facility. Both hardware and software experience are required, and you will assist in developing maintenance procedures, test procedures and designing operating and maintenance manuals.

You will be able to read and interpret drawings, schematics and applicable technical specifications to troubleshoot, optimize and maintain the industrial electrical/controls equipment. You will have basic knowledge of machine repair and the ability to communicate and troubleshoot with the end users is a must.  The Controls Technician will be required to support and assist the operations as needed.

As the ideal candidate, you are an Industrial Electrician or have a technical diploma combined with 5+ years of experience working in a similar role. Experience working with Rockwell/Allen Bradley PLC systems is essential and other PLC systems such as Siemens will be an advantage. Experience with variable frequency drives (VFD’s) will also be an advantage. You have strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and workplace safety programs. Knowledge of networking systems and computer systems maintenance is an advantage.

Excellent computer software skills using, Microsoft Office Suite and other computer networking systems are a must.

If you are passionate about creating a clean and sustainable world for ourselves and for future generations and are excited at the prospect of joining a dynamic and growing Nova Scotia company, then we would like to hear from you. Interested candidates can contact RoseMacAuley via rose@venor.ca
