Director of Engineering

Our client is a dynamic and rapidly growing custom stainless-steel food processing equipment manufacturer delivering hygienic design, fabrication, and installation services to our food processing clients across Canada, The United States and Internationally. They are seeking a Director of Engineering to join their growing team.

As the Director of Engineering, you will be responsible for leading our company efforts in hygienically designed food processing equipment. Reporting to the Vice President of Engineering, the Director will be the go to person to provide coaching and mentorship on an ongoing basis to our team of design engineers. You will play a key role in constantly improving our “experts in hygienic design” approach and processes with a key accountability on creating innovative and leading-edge technologies. You will lead the hygienic food processing, standardization of product, design standards, review and approve all shop drawings with the review team before they are delivered to the factory floor. You will set the standards for the engineering design with a focus of building technical expertise in design for the food processing equipment. As a creative leader, you will mentor the team of design engineers by providing insight on a daily basis to ensure that we exceed our customers’ expectations.  You will liaise with project managers on a daily basis to troubleshoot any issues on the production floor related to design.

As the ideal candidate, you are an innovative leader with a passion for design engineering. You have 10+ years of experience in equipment design (ideally with food processing equipment) and possess a mechanical engineering degree with a P.Eng. You have a strong knowledge of engineering and simulation tools including CAD design (Inventor), FEA and 3D modeling. You have strong organizational, planning, customer service and relationship building skills.
