Vice President, Business Development

Halifax, Nova Scotia

BlueLight Analytics Inc., a Halifax-based growth stage digital health start-up, is committed to providing dentists with the insights they need to improve patient safety and satisfaction. Their continued growth is dependent on the strength of their relationships with their customers and the cohesiveness of their team. BlueLight Analytics is seeking a VP, Business Development to provide leadership, guidance and accountability. If relationship building is your second nature, please read on.

The goal of BlueLight’s Business Development team is to contribute to company objectives by developing sustainable, profitable customer relationships through acquisition of new accounts, growth of existing accounts, innovation with customers, and standardization in solutions. As VP, Business Development, you'll lead all aspects of the customer cycle, from marketing and revenue generation strategies, to account management and customer success. Their customers include small to large dental companies, universities, and they’re expanding to dental practices of all sizes. The VP will be asked to nurture their already outstanding customer relationships, strategize to get new customers and lead a high-performing multidisciplinary team of high achievers. You will report to the CEO and play a key role in the senior management team, significantly contributing to the overall corporate strategy and gaining exposure to the Board. If you genuinely care about providing solutions to real problems, and are able to enrich an awesome and committed team, this is the position for you.

As the ideal candidate, you have done it before. You enjoy the journey of taking small, high-growth teams and championing them to the next level of growth. You have the highest sense of urgency and enjoy the hustle. You are a strong, hands-on, customer-facing leader. Not only would you love to own one or two major accounts and relationships, but you are dedicated to managing and motivating the whole team. A relationship-driven inspirer, you thrive on creating a strong, high-performing culture of growth. You can easily converse with a technical team at length and challenge their assumptions, while helping them arrive at a new status quo. You understand the customer journey and are consistently identifying opportunities for continuous improvement. A customer advocate, you work in collaboration with other teams to implement user feedback.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 8+ years of experience in enterprise-level software sales or technical healthcare sales, along with a minimum of 3+ years managing and growing high-performing sales and account management teams that sell to enterprise. Experience in the pharmaceutical, medical device or dental industry would be an asset. The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, including relationship building skills, negotiation skills and the ability to establish trust and credibility. A highly motivated self-starter, you thrive in small, fast-paced, uber-collaborative environments. With a proven track-record of growing customer accounts, you have experience growing teams and developing operational metrics to track progress.

If you’re a senior leader passionate about the digital health and life science space, and understand the impact of modern software engineering very well, please contact Shardeigh McGillivray via Shardeigh@venor.ca or 902.405.8846
