The local business here in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Ultra Electronics Maritime Systems, has a long established history of providing unique engineering, development, testing, evaluation, and management capabilities to develop technologically advanced underwater battlespace systems to international navies. They also specialize in underwater acoustics, towed arrays, sensor technology and Magneto Inductive (MI) communications.

Their growing international portfolio of business requires them to identify a new Vice President of Finance who can work strategically on large national and international bid programs while also having the technical depth to lead financial modeling and reporting.

As the Vice President of Finance, you will be directly involved in and accountable for the overall performance of the business, from both a financial and strategic perspective. You will lead, manage and deliver the financial reporting function, within deadlines, and in a controlled and automated manner. Within the company, this is a highly visible role, which requires a goal orientated individual with strong managerial skills and an unwavering focus. You will be required to; inform all parts of the business on current financial performance; lead the development of the annual strategic planning, budgeting process and monthly financial forecast; and ensure that all operational control processes are maintained and effective for the Finance and Commercial team.

The ideal candidate will come from a defence & aerospace background with a publicly traded company. They will be a designated CPA with strong experience working within the IFRS/ GAAP accounting standards. They will also be able to work collaboratively with international stakeholders on commercial strategic plans while also providing effective communications and direction to the local accounting and commercial departments.
