Cloud & Infrastructure Manager

Our client, an international leader in wireless communications and one of the most highly regarded employers in Atlantic Canada, has an exciting opportunity for a senior leader to champion international cloud and infrastructure technology changes out of their  St. John’s office. This is a very progressive employer with a great corporate culture and a scope of projects that are not typically seen in Atlantic Canada.

The Cloud & Infrastructure Operations Manager role is a critical role within Group IT and a key position responsible for managing the client’s new cloud infrastructure operating model and supporting the adoption of an agile delivery model. This role takes full accountability for the Global IT Infrastructure and Operations team and is an integral part of major program deliveries both infrastructure and business led into a cloud environment automating and instilling agile processes.

The role is accountable for ensuring the right cloud and hosting services are designed, planned and implemented and then continually available at the best possible price and influencing the adoption and consumption of those services to deliver required performance and availability.  This will require working with Strategy and Architecture designs to continually review industry and market trends and the client’s needs and capabilities to develop and maintain a clear roadmap for the development and retirement of services. As a service owner the role is accountable for assessing and managing risks to the services including sponsorship and delivery of mitigating actions.

The role will identify, define and sponsor necessary Infrastructure led change to keep the Cloud and Hosting services up to date and ensure benefits are realised. The role will also be expected to proactively identify and adopt automation throughout the IT Operations space and look to identify disruptive solutions and service capabilities to help drive a transformation culture. In moving to a more automated manner for application delivery and support this role will be instrumental to ensure the success of a DevOps culture.

The ideal candidate will have a degree in Information Technology or equivalent work experience. You have technical leadership experience and in managing IT operations in a cloud environment. In leadership roles, you have developed and mentored Windows and Unix/Linux system administrators and proven yourself to be persuasive, encouraging and diplomatic. You possess a strong understanding of Open source technologies, DNS, DHCP, AD and networking WAN/LAN. The successful candidate will have experience with security monitoring, global transformation programmes, ITIL V3, and security frameworks. As a leader, you are highly personable and are comfortable leading through change. You are highly organized and analytical which allows you to conform to shifting priorities. Your innate desire to learn new skills makes you adept at research and you enjoy learning new technologies. You work well in a high pressure environment and are collaborative with your peers.
