Senior Mechanical Engineer

Halifax, Nova Scotia

Our client is a leader in the development and manufacturing of power conversion equipment for military application. On their behalf, we are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the mechanical design of power conversion products for mission critical military application.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Senior Mechanical Engineer will provide direction and technical input on mechanical packaging, structural evaluation/simulation, environmental survivability and design for manufacturability. This position requires familiarity with the application of military and commercial standards to mechanical designs and take lead in the mechanical design of power conversion products. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will create, manage and edit qualification test reports and assist in the creation and management of ILS requirements. Under guidance, the successful candidate will generate ECNs. You will perform structural and thermal design analyses and take developing concepts or designs and complete to a detailed level. You will develop technically sound work within the prescribed time frames and multiplex between different projects.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in engineering accompanied with 10+ years experience in mechanical environment in a light manufacturing environment. You have experience with packaging of electrical equipment, structural and thermal design analysis, CAD software (preferably SolidWorks) and familiarity with the application of military and commercial standards to mechanical designs. You have the ability to see how the small details relate to the big picture and like to investigate different solutions to problems. Flexible in your approach, you are able to meet demands when priorities shift.
