The Opportunity    

Reporting to the Regional Director, the Director of Human Resources is a key member of the Senior Management Team (SMT). The Director of HR leads the Company’s human resources strategy and oversees all aspect of human resource operations across our operations. 

This is an opportunity for a leader who enjoys balancing strategy with execution. You will partner closely with leaders across the organization to address people challenges, build leadership capability, and create programs and policies that enhance the employee experience while supporting operational priorities. As a visible and approachable leader, this role will champion an inclusive, respectful, and accountable workplace culture and drive continuous improvement across all areas of human resources. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Oversee all aspects of the human resources function, aligning people strategies with organizational goals, operational priorities, and long-term business objectives. 

• Lead, coach, and support the Human Resource team. Foster collaboration, professional development and service excellence. 

• Build and maintain strong relationships with leaders, providing trusted guidance and responsive practical support to meet their people management needs. 

• Support and champion Occupational Health and Safety, its team and program throughout the organization. 

• With a data driven approach, lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of HR programs, policies, and practices that enhance the employee experience and support a high-performing culture. 

• Ensure compliance with applicable employment and OHS Legislation, regulations, company policies and best practices while promoting fair and consistent HR practices. 

• Manage people data and processes in the company’s Human Resource Information System (HRIS); driving adoption and optimization of its abilities. 

• Provide oversight for company payroll, ensuring accurate and timely payments and remittances occur.  

• Manage complex unionized and non unionized employee‑relations matters, ensuring fair, consistent, and legally compliant outcomes. 

• Ensure HR-related documents, records, and systems are accurately maintained, securely managed, and aligned with operational and compliance requirements. 

• Foster a culture of feedback, one where open, respectful and engaging dialogue between employees and management on topics of mutual importance and interest occur regularly.  

• Contribute to financial management including development and adherence to a HR budget. 

• Champion our company values and their integrations into everyday operations, decision-making and workplace practices.  

• Other duties as required. 

Qualifications 

• A bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is required;  

• 8+ years of human resource management experience, preferably in the industrial sector. 

Assets 

• Experience with ADP Workforce Now considered an asset. 

• CPHR designation would be considered an asset.  

• Experience supporting a unionized workforce and participating in the collective bargaining process is considered an asset. 

• Experience overseeing OHS considered an asset. 

 Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 

• An in-depth knowledge of employment legislation, and legal regulations. 

• Experienced people leader with a proven ability to build, mentor and develop high-performing teams. 

• Demonstrated expertise in designing and leading HR strategy. 

• Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships and influence change. 

• Strong strategic planning, communication, and organizational skills. 

• Demonstrated sound judgement and strong decision-making skills.
