Director of Production

Our client is an innovative Canadian technology manufacturer recognized for designing and delivering highly engineered products used in demanding, mission-critical environments worldwide. As the organization continues to expand its manufacturing capabilities, they are seeking an experienced Director of Production to provide strategic leadership across all production operations and help drive the next phase of operational growth.

Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, the Director of Production will lead all manufacturing activities, focusing on operational excellence, continuous improvement, production performance, and team development. This is an opportunity to make a significant impact by optimizing manufacturing processes, supporting new product introductions, and building a high-performing production organization.

What You’ll Be Doing

In this role, you will lead production operations while partnering closely with engineering, quality, supply chain, and operations teams to deliver world-class manufacturing performance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead all day-to-day production operations, including production planning, scheduling, resource allocation, and execution.
• Develop and implement strategies to improve manufacturing efficiency, productivity, quality, and on-time delivery.
• Establish, monitor, and report on key operational performance metrics, including throughput, quality, cost, safety, and delivery performance.
• Drive Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement initiatives across production operations.
• Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing production team while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and operational excellence.
• Partner closely with Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, Finance, and Technical Support to ensure seamless production execution.
• Support new product introduction (NPI) activities and ensure successful transition from design into manufacturing.
• Collaborate with Quality Assurance to resolve production issues, implement corrective actions, and maintain regulatory compliance.
• Ensure material availability, inventory optimization, and effective production planning to meet customer demand.
• Champion a strong health, safety, and environmental culture while ensuring compliance with all applicable policies, regulations, and industry standards.
• Identify opportunities for operational innovation, automation, and process improvement to support long-term business growth.

Qualifications and experience include:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or a related discipline.
• 8–10+ years of progressive leadership experience within manufacturing or production operations.
• Demonstrated success leading production teams in a complex manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
• Experience developing production strategies that improve quality, efficiency, cost, and delivery performance.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing KPIs, production planning, capacity management, and operational reporting.
• Experience supporting new product introduction (NPI) and scaling manufacturing operations.
• Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and cross-functional leadership skills.
• Strategic mindset combined with a hands-on leadership approach and strong problem-solving abilities
