Freight Broker

Venor is proud to partner with Start to Finish Logistics in their search for a Freight Broker to join their team in Dartmouth, NS.

Start to Finish Logistics is a growing, independent logistics brokerage that has built a strong reputation over the past 13 years for reliability, responsiveness, and exceeding customer expectations. Supporting everything from small shipments to oversized industrial moves, the company continues to experience consistent year-over-year growth while expanding into new markets, including a major upcoming contract. As the business scales, this role plays a critical part in supporting an increasing client base while maintaining the high level of service the company is known for.

This position offers the opportunity to join a fast-paced, relationship-driven environment where no two days are the same. You will play a key role in coordinating shipments, managing client accounts, and solving complex logistical challenges while working closely with both customers and carriers.

What You’ll Be Doing

In this role, you will manage shipments end-to-end while supporting client relationships and ensuring seamless delivery execution.

Key responsibilities include:

• Communicate effectively with clients, carriers, and receivers to coordinate shipments and ensure expectations are met.
• Negotiate rates with carriers and source capacity using load boards, networks, and outreach.
• Plan and schedule shipments, ensuring optimal routing, timing, and profitability.
• Track and trace shipments from pickup through delivery, proactively identifying and resolving issues.
• Coordinate and confirm delivery appointments, adjusting schedules based on real-time updates and ETAs.
• Provide timely updates to customers on shipment status, delays, or changes.
• Manage and develop client accounts, working toward streamlined, repeatable processes over time.
• Identify potential service failures and implement alternative solutions to maintain service levels.
• Maintain accurate records and update internal and external systems.
• Respond to inquiries regarding shipment location, delivery timing, and logistics details.
• Support business development efforts, including optional outbound prospecting and client acquisition opportunities.

What We Are Looking For

As the ideal candidate, you bring experience in transportation, logistics, or a related field, with a strong understanding of how to move shipments and plan effectively. You are a strong communicator who can confidently manage relationships with both clients and carriers while ensuring expectations are met on all sides. You take ownership of your work, are highly organized, and are comfortable managing multiple shipments, priorities, and timelines in a fast-paced environment.

You are a natural problem solver who enjoys working through daily challenges and finding solutions when plans shift—whether due to delays, route changes, or evolving client needs. You are adaptable, resourceful, and able to think quickly while maintaining a high level of customer service. Experience sourcing carriers, working with load boards, or managing accounts is considered an asset, though the organization is open to developing individuals with strong foundational experience and the right mindset.
