Venor is thrilled to partner with our client, Industrial Rubber Company (IRC) in their search for a General Manager. IRC supplies critical rubber lining and piping solutions to the mining industry across Eastern Canada. With shops in Bathurst, NB and Wabush, NL, they are trusted by major mining operations for their expertise, quality, and fast turnaround. 

Position Overview 

We are seeking an experienced and motivated General Manager to lead the daily operations of their rubber lining shop. This role requires a hands-on leader who can effectively manage employees, oversee projects, maintain customer relationships, and drive business growth. The General Manager will be responsible for ensuring efficiency, quality, and profitability while upholding company standards for safety and service. 

What you’ll be doing: 

Operational Leadership: 

• Plan, schedule, and oversee employee shifts and work assignments. 
• Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to quality standards. 
• Monitor shop performance and implement process improvements. 

Quoting & Job Costing: 

• Prepare and review project quotes in coordination with ownership. 
• Track material, labor, and overhead costs to ensure profitability. 

Customer & Sales Support: 

• Visit customer sites as required to assess needs, provide updates, or resolve issues. 
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers to support repeat business. 
• Support sales efforts by identifying opportunities and preparing proposals. 

Team Leadership: 

• Lead, train, and motivate employees to achieve performance and safety goals. 
• Conduct regular staff meetings and performance reviews. 
• Promote a positive, safe, and productive work environment. 

Communication & Reporting: 

• Provide regular updates to ownership on project status, costs, and challenges. 
• Collaborate with owners on strategy, resource planning, and customer relations. 

What you’ll need: 

• Proven experience in a supervisory or management role, preferably in an industrial, fabrication, or mining environment. 
• Strong organizational and time management skills. 
• Past experience in Production/Project Management would be considered advantageous 
• Any past experience in detail oriented/technical work would be considered advantageous 
• Ability to read and interpret project specifications and drawings. 
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
• Customer-focused mindset with the ability to support sales and client relations. 
• Knowledge of safety practices and compliance requirements in a shop environment. 
• Bilingual (English/French) is considered an asset.
