The Senior Cyber Security Consultant will act as a trusted advisor to clients, leading and supporting engagements focused on cybersecurity maturity, risk, governance, and resilience. This role is well suited for a seasoned cybersecurity practitioner who combines strong technical and risk assessment expertise with the ability to facilitate workshops, engage executive stakeholders, and translate complex findings into clear, business-focused recommendations.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Act as a trusted advisor to client stakeholders across IT, security, business, and executive leadership.
- Facilitate client workshops, interviews, tabletop exercises, and executive briefings.
- Translate technical cybersecurity findings into clear, practical, and business-focused insights.
- Contribute to proposal development, scopes of work, and client presentations.
- Lead and deliver Cybersecurity Health Checks using frameworks such as CIS Critical Security Controls and NIST Cybersecurity Framework.
- Develop and deliver cybersecurity policies and deliverables, including Business Continuity Plans, Disaster Recovery Plans, and Incident Response Plans.
- Conduct Threat and Risk Assessments, including risk identification, control gap analysis, and practical mitigation recommendations.
- Support the development of cybersecurity strategies, roadmaps, target operating models, governance frameworks, and security policies.
- Help grow IMP’s cybersecurity service offerings through reusable tools, templates, methodologies, and continuous improvement.
- Mentor junior consultants and contribute to knowledge sharing across the team.
What We Are Looking For
- 8+ years of experience in cybersecurity, IT risk, information security, or security consulting.
- Hands-on experience delivering cybersecurity assessments, health checks, or maturity assessments.
- Strong working knowledge of CIS Critical Security Controls and NIST Cybersecurity Framework.
- Experience supporting or leading security governance engagements, including tabletop exercises, Business Continuity Plans, Disaster Recovery Plans, and related resilience initiatives.
- Strong understanding of security governance, risk management, incident response, and resilience concepts.
- Experience working in client-facing advisory roles with the ability to engage confidently with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong verbal facilitation, written reporting, and executive communication skills.
- A collaborative, approachable, and consultative style.
Assets include:
- Experience delivering Threat and Risk Assessments.
- Experience working with public sector or regulated environments.
- Knowledge of ISO 27001, ITSG-33, and ISO/IEC 22301.
- Experience with security awareness or executive training.
- Consulting experience within Atlantic Canada.
- Certifications such as CISSP, CISA, CISM, GIAC, or ISO 27001 Lead Implementer/Auditor.
