Senior Electrical Engineer

Venor is proud to partner with Eastpoint Engineering Ltd. in their search for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join their team in Halifax, NS.

Reporting to the Manager, Electrical, the Senior Electrical Engineer will lead the electrical scope across building-related projects, including renovations, additions, and new construction. This role offers the opportunity to act as a technical leader, mentor team members, and contribute to client relationships and project delivery. For the right individual, there is a clear path toward team leadership and broader management responsibility over time.

What You’ll Be Doing

In this role, you will lead electrical design and project delivery across a diverse portfolio of building-related work while supporting clients, teams, and project outcomes from early-stage planning through commissioning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead electrical design for building, institutional, and industrial projects, including renovations, additions, and new builds.
  • Develop concept designs, detailed drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Act as a senior technical lead through proposal development, feasibility assessments, design, tendering, construction, and commissioning.
  • Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, and technical deliverables to support successful project outcomes.
  • Support contract administration, construction reviews, site activities, and commissioning.
  • Coordinate with internal multidisciplinary teams, external consultants, contractors, and clients throughout project execution.
  • Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior and intermediate engineers and designers.
  • Support business development efforts through client engagement, proposal input, and identifying opportunities for continued growth.
  • Help shape technical approaches, project delivery standards, and team capability within the electrical group.
  • Identify and mitigate technical and project risks while maintaining a strong focus on quality, safety, and client satisfaction.

What We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate is a technically strong and client-focused electrical engineer who enjoys leading projects, mentoring others, and contributing to the growth of a high-performing team. This individual will bring sound judgment, strong communication skills, and the ability to lead electrical scope across complex building projects while balancing technical excellence, project delivery, and client expectations.

Qualifications and experience include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited university.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Engineers Nova Scotia, or eligibility to transfer registration from another Canadian jurisdiction.
  • 10–15 years of consulting experience in electrical engineering for building projects, though strong candidates with somewhat less experience may also be considered.
  • Proven ability to act as discipline lead on complex consulting engineering projects.
  • Strong understanding of electrical building systems design, codes, standards, and technical documentation.
  • Experience leading projects through proposal development, feasibility assessment, design, tendering, construction, and commissioning.
  • Strong project management capability involving safety, quality, schedule, and budget.
  • Experience using SKM PowerTools, AutoCAD / Revit, and Microsoft Office 365.
  • Ability to lead meetings, represent the electrical discipline with clients, and support business development efforts.
  • Experience mentoring junior and intermediate engineers and designers is considered a strong asset.
  • Bilingualism in English and French is considered an asset.
  • Ability to obtain Reliability Status through CISD within six months of employment.
