Venor is proud to partner with Apex Industries in their search for a Project Manager to join their Architectural Hardware Group in Halifax, NS. 

Apex Industries Inc. is a Canadian corporation headquartered in Moncton, New Brunswick. Over the last 50 years, Apex has become a diversified multi-business unit company focused on metal manufacturing, product development, and automation and openings solutions for the construction industry. Apex operates business units in the aerospace industry, heavy machining and fabrication, manufacturing / distribution of metal doors, frames and related hardware, sales / service of commercial and residential overhead garage doors. 

Overview:

As the Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing awarded contracts and overseeing the planning, execution, and delivery of projects, ensuring they meet quality standards, building regulations, budget, and timeline objectives. As the Project Manager, you will use your architectural hardware expertise to coordinate with architects, contractors, engineers, and installers to successfully manage complex hardware installation projects.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Respond to customer inquiries and requests for estimates, specializing in commercial construction projects with an emphasis on architectural hardware, commercial steel doors, frames, and architectural wood doors.
  • Prepare competitive bids for projects and oversee successful contract awards, managing each project from initiation to completion.
  • Evaluate data related to cost factors, including materials, labor, and geographic considerations, to ensure accurate and competitive pricing.
  • Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, resource allocation, budgets and identify potential project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with subcontractors and suppliers to resolve pricing issues and maintain project budgets.
  • Interpret and review architectural drawings and specifications for architectural hardware projects and ensure compliance with building codes, safety standards, and project specifications.
  • Provide technical guidance on hardware installation and maintenance.
  • Support team members, clients, and site superintendents by coordinating, expediting, and distributing critical project information and updates. This includes a strong focus on scheduling, reconciling project documentation, and ensuring smooth workflow.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering. or related industry experience.
  • AHC, CDC, EHC or AOC DHI Designations would be considered an asset.
  • 5+ years of project management experience in the architectural hardware or commercial construction industry.
  • Strong expertise of architectural hardware products, building codes, and installation techniques.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of life safety systems, fire codes, access control systems, doors, frames, and custom architectural fittings. 
  • Proficient at reading and interpreting architectural drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in Electronic Access Control, CCTV, and/or Intrusion are considered an asset.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
