Venor has partnered with Prestige Homes to recruit an Area Manager located at their Sussex site, based in New Brunswick.
The Shaw Group Limited is one of the 50 Best-Managed Companies in Canada and is one of Eastern Canada’s leading natural resource manufacturers and community developers. Prestige Homes, a division of The Shaw Group Limited, has been designing and building mini, modular, and multi-family homes to the highest quality and customer standards for over 50 years.
The Opportunity
This position is designed for a leader who is prepared to master the complexities of modular wood construction. Joining a seasoned management team, the successful candidate will oversee a high-output environment for multiple assembly areas.
Prestige Homes can offer a clear professional development trajectory for the ideal candidate and is seeking to build their leadership pipeline for the future. This is a foundational leadership position, with the opportunity for future growth and development within the business.
Key Deliverables
- Performance Management: Oversee all aspects of employee performance, including attendance management, professional development, and conflict resolution.
- Safety Leadership: Fostering a “Safety First” culture through outward commitment, clear communication, and accountability, not just regulatory compliance, empowering workers to report hazards without fear, reducing incidents, and improving morale.
- Recruitment & Onboarding: Participate actively in the interview process for new hires and internal promotions.
- Operational Planning: Execute complex weekly and monthly production schedules, ensuring materials and labor are aligned to meet strict deadlines.
- Quality Assurance: Act as the primary quality auditor for assigned areas, establishing and maintaining thorough inspection routines to ensure all output meets company standards.
- Administrative Oversight: Manage daily time-tracking and labor audits through Dayforce, ensuring data accuracy and compliance.
- Communication Leadership: Serve as the central point of contact for assigned production zones, ensuring information flows effectively across all shifts.
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will be a balanced leader capable of managing a diverse workforce that includes both long-tenured employees and more junior staff. You possess the professionalism required to lead through respect and technical competence rather than through strict authority. A continuous improvement mindset is crucial, having an eye for process improvements and not settling for just “good enough.”
Qualifications & Experience:
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in a leadership role in a similar or comparable environment is ideal.
- Professional Background: Experience in construction or manufacturing is required. While specific knowledge of wood-frame structures or carpentry is preferred, candidates with strong leadership experience in other industrial sectors will be considered.
- Leadership Style: A modern, collaborative approach to management. You should be adept at building rapport with your team while maintaining high accountability and production standards.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong computer literacy is essential, specifically with spreadsheets, email, and workforce management software.
- Strategic Execution: The ability to visualize long-term production goals and manage the daily logistical challenges, including supply chain fluctuations and just-in-time inventory, required to meet them.
- Educational Foundation: Post-secondary education is valued; however, significant practical experience in a supervisory capacity is equally important.
At Venor and Prestige Homes, we embrace a culture of belonging in the workplace.
