Our client Fathom Studios is an interdisciplinary architectural firm with 25 years of experience that aspires to cultivate meaningful connections to places and they are inspired by both the rugged landscapes of the region and cultural diversity of the people who live here. They are a team of architects, planners, urban designers, graphic designers, and researchers based in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.

Venor is proud to assist them in finding an equally inspired BIM Manager to join their team in Dartmouth, NS. As the BIM Manager, you will be responsible to advance the office’s mandate to be proficient in the delivery of BIM based architectural projects and conduct reviews of template databases to correct and update for redundancy and proper implementation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ability to understand and implement efficient template development relative to office standards.
  • Create and maintain BIM related manuals regularly and methodically and adjust office templates accordingly (ie Schedules).
  • Supporting the office with script creation and development.
  • Develop and implement procedures and standards for managing building data.
  • Support the office studio on day to day inquires and procedure enforcement for projects
  • Conduct routine audits of project files for corruption detection and file size management.
  • Conduct review of template databases to correct and update for redundancy and proper implementation.
  • Excellent and proven communication skills with clients, contractors, and authorities.
  • Review progress claims from Contractors.
  • Proficient in construction documentation and technical drawings.

Qualifications

As the successful candidate, you are proficient with Revit, AutoCAD, and Dynamo with comprehensive knowledge of building construction systems, constructability, materials, and industry associated standards. As the BIM Manager, you are proficient with Dynamo, C and Python programming. You have a strong understanding of the construction process to create a smooth transition of BIM implementation and production execution. Your familiarity with IT concepts to assist with server and broader based BIM troubleshooting will allow you to succeed within the role. As the BIM manager, you are also proficient in construction documentation and technical drawing.  

As the ideal candidate, you have at least 5 years’ experience with a focus on the construction phase of projects. The BIM Manager must be able to support the office with script creation and development and the office studio on day-to-day inquiries and procedure enforcement.  You have experience overseeing the implementation of BIM in a medium to large office setting for all phases of the design and construction process, with a strong understanding of the Nova Scotia construction practices and building codes. You possess recognized credentials from a construction contract administration course or other equivalent training and understand proprietary data extraction software ie. (Construction Operations Building information exchange (COBie), Nosyko dRofus, BIMLink, WhiteFeet etc.)
