Discovery Garden helps libraries, museums, galleries, and archives build and manage digital collections and institutional repositories. Founded in 2010 by the creators of Islandora, Discovery Garden has spent over 15 years delivering open-source, Drupal-based solutions and custom hosting services to institutions around the world.

What You’ll Do
As a Business Development Representative, this role will work closely with the Chief Revenue Officer and play a key part in driving Discovery Garden’s growth strategy. The focus will be on generating new sales opportunities, building strong relationships, and supporting the full sales lifecycle across the galleries, libraries, archives, and museums (GLAM) sector.
Key responsibilities include:
- Proactively generating leads through personalized email campaigns, phone outreach, social media engagement, and networking within the Islandora and GLAM communities.
- Researching and qualifying prospective clients to understand their digital repository challenges, goals, and readiness to modernize.
- Scheduling and participating in discovery meetings, demonstrations, and introductory conversations with key decision-makers.
- Supporting opportunities from initial prospecting through to closing, in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
- Working closely with technical teams to align outreach messaging and value propositions.
- Maintaining accurate records of outreach, engagement, and pipeline activity within Salesforce or other CRM tools.
- Participating in sales meetings, training sessions, and learning opportunities to stay current on Discovery Garden’s offerings and evolving client needs.
- Sharing market insights and client feedback to inform product positioning and future campaigns.
What You Bring
The ideal candidate is relationship-driven, organized, and motivated to grow within a sales-focused role while supporting meaningful work in the cultural and education sectors.
Qualifications include:
- Legal entitlement to work in Canada.
- Strong preference for candidates based in Prince Edward Island.
- Experience in sales, business development, account management, or customer service.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage clients remotely and build trusted relationships.
- Self-motivated and goal-oriented, with a desire to grow professionally in a sales environment.
- Strong organizational skills and curiosity about client needs, products, and services.
- Familiarity with CRM systems (or willingness to learn).
- Interest in digital access, education, libraries, archives, museums, or cultural heritage is considered an asset.
