On behalf of our client, we are recruiting a Buyer. The client is a well-established full-service provider of retail consumer products. The buyer plays an important role within the Company, and is the key representative. As a buyer you will have analytical skills to maintain inventory, a high turn rate and have the right product mix, seasonally.

Responsibilities:

  • A subject matter expert in the category, offering value to our customers through educating on products and making recommendations for their business.
  • Maintain inventory levels to achieve Service Level and product turn targets.
  • Assume ownership of the category and products they source, using the tools provided and by following all established processes;
  • Create relationships with outside vendors, negotiating pricing and rebates in support of corporate goals, improving profitability and margins;
  • Monitor buying to ensure all rebate opportunities are optimized while meeting contractual obligations;
  • Develop and implement appropriate measures to eliminate forecast error and bias, reduce forecast volatility, and target forecast accuracy;
  • Analyze historical sales performance, assessing the impact of various sales and marketing plans such as new product introductions; price increases or decreases; product withdrawal or obsolescence, promotions and incentives, modifying the demand plan accordingly.

As the ideal candidate you will have an educational background in supply chain or related field experience as a buyer for 5 years. A varied background in handling distribution of time-sensitive products with significant FMCG (fast moving consumer goods) experience.

The successful candidate will demonstrate broad business knowledge and experience; Thorough understanding of demand planning and forecasting techniques, driven by input from various cross-functional areas, such as customer planning, consumer insights and marketing; Strong quantitative and analytical skills and aptitude.
