Venor is proud to partner with Total Transport & Rigging in their search for a Chief Financial Officer. The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is accountable for providing financial leadership to Total Transport and Rigging (TTR) to support achieving the company’s financial goals and strategic objectives. The CFO brings financial discipline and critical thinking to the planning and decision-making process and actively promotes cost consciousness throughout the organization. Functioning as a business partner and advisor to the CEO and other leaders, this role formulates and implements the financial strategies and policies of the company.

The CFO oversees the finance function (corporate finance, business planning, budgeting, risk management and insurance). As part of the senior leadership team, the CFO works collaboratively to drive financial and operational performance, builds an effective company team and champions TTR both internally and externally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • As part of the senior leadership team and under direction of the CEO, translates the strategy into long term plans and short-term goals / objectives; takes an accountable leadership role for implementing the goals; drives change to achieve profitability
  • Leads the annual business planning process; owns and leads the preparation of the budget
  • Works with other senior leaders to examine finances, providing accurate and timely financial data and asking tough questions to ensure goals are met and the right decisions are made on expenses and capital requirements
  • Reviews all commercial agreements Management and Performance Reporting
  • Creates reports, presentations, and responses to information requests from the CEO
  • Takes a lead role in discussions at the senior management level on management reporting strategy
  • Takes performance of the business to the next level building key performance indicators to measure success

Finance and Administration:

  • Takes full responsibility for company’s finance function
  • Prepares financial statements
  • Leads operational efficiency initiatives and internal synergies related to various business units
  • Coordinates the timely completion of actual to budget comparisons ensuring insightful variance interpretations
  • Establishes and monitors the internal control’s structure
  • Manages the financial obligations of any loan agreements and ensures that obligations are met on a timely basis
  • Guides and oversees the payroll process
  • Manages and monitors reports on cash flow
  • Completes tax filing in full compliance with regulations
  • Acts as the point of contact for all banking and lending institution matters
  • Provide the CEO and senior leadership with regular reports and critical analysis of performance
  • Manages the insurance programs and risk management programs
  • Leads and mentors the Finance and Accounting team and encourages appropriate professional development and training.
  • Promotes honest and ethical conduct within the leadership team and throughout the organization; appropriately handles conflict of interests, meets standards of full disclosure and consistently acts in the organization’s best interests

As the ideal candidate, you are someone who is considered to be a results-oriented leader with strong business acumen. You demonstrate a high level of ownership and accountability, with a roll up your sleeves approach. You pride yourself to be a natural collaborator and a team builder who feels comfortable working alongside direct reports and peers. You have a continuous improvement mindset and are open to input and new ideas. You can communicate effectively with others and have excellent influencing skills and attention to detail.

As the successful candidate, you have a university degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field with an accounting designation (CPA, paired with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in progressive roles within Finance or Accounting at the management level). Experience in construction or transportation is considered an asset. You have experience with technology, systems, and process improvements and have a track record of successfully leading and motivating teams.
