With more than 100 journalists, the SaltWire Network is the largest media organization in Atlantic Canada and is the home of 27 storied media titles across the East Coast, including The Chronicle Herald, the Cape Breton Post, The Telegram, The Guardian, as well as two dozen weekly community publications and Saltwire.com, which is viewed by approximately one million each week. With a history dating back almost 200 years telling Atlantic Canadians’ stories, SaltWire is the essential source for the news and stories about Atlantic Canada. Reporting to the Executive Vice President & COO, the Chief Financial Officer will assume a strategic role in the overall management of the company. The CFO will have primary day-to-day responsibility for planning, implementing, and managing all financial-related activities of the organization. This includes direct responsibility for accounting, finance, forecasting, strategic planning, debt financing, banking relationships and audit, and ensuring company accounting procedures and reporting conform to generally accepted accounting principles. The CFO is responsible for applying appropriate accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting to enable stakeholders to make timely decisions with solid financial information.
As the ideal candidate you have senior management and leadership experience along with a professional accounting designation, combined with 10+ years of progressive accounting experience. You have strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate and manage well at all levels of the organization. You are a creative problem solver who exercises sound judgement and decision making while providing guidance, support, and recommendations to management. The successful candidate will possess a high level of integrity and dependability with a strong entrepreneurial sense and a results orientation. You bring a progressive, energetic, and enthusiastic work ethic.
