Venor is proud to partner with a diversified Atlantic Canadian organization in their search for a Chief Operating Officer to join their team based in Halifax, NS.

The Chief Operating Officer role is a cornerstone of the senior leadership team. Reporting directly to the President & CEO, the COO will lead senior management and be accountable for translating strategic vision into operational excellence, financial performance, and scalable systems that support continued growth and sustainability.
What you’ll be doing
- Partner with the CEO to develop and execute enterprise-wide strategy, setting goals, policies, and priorities aligned with long-term business objectives
- Lead and oversee daily operations across central services and multiple operating companies within the group
- Act as the primary liaison between the CEO and department leaders, ensuring alignment, accountability, and effective communication
- Work closely with the CFO to oversee budgets, manage costs, allocate resources, and report on financial and operational performance
- Lead, coach, and support senior leaders and teams, fostering a high-performance, accountable culture
- Drive continuous improvement through new systems, processes, and technology to improve efficiency and scalability
- Serve as a strong people leader and culture-builder, motivating teams and developing future leaders across the enterprise.
- Establish and monitor KPIs to evaluate performance, identify gaps, and guide data-driven decision-making
- Lead restructuring, operational optimization, and growth initiatives to ensure long-term sustainability
What we are looking for
- Senior leadership experience with strong capabilities in strategy, operations, and execution
- Proven ability to lead complex, multi-business organizations and diverse cross-functional teams
- Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, cost control, and performance management
- Independent, decisive leader who thrives in fast-paced, entrepreneurial environments
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to use data and performance metrics to drive results
- Ability to prioritize, move quickly, and ensure action plans are implemented
- Willingness and ability to travel as required
