Our client, Harbour Construction a Commercial/Civil Construction company is seeking a Civil Estimator/Project Manager to join their team in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.
As the ideal candidate, you will work closely with the company President in a small team-based environment and will be responsible for all aspects of the company projects. You will source potential projects, evaluate projects for fit with company workflow, prepare project estimates/tender proposals, and oversee all steps of project construction. Visit potential work sites, attend pre-bid meetings, analysis the contract documents and meet with clients to understand all aspects of project construction prior to bidding. The Senor Estimator/Project Manager will obtain bids from vendors and subcontractors, develop a proposed timeline, and ensure permits, licences, bonding and insurance requirements are met. You will review all project financial cost reports, work with the company controller to ensure invoices are consistent and confirm all project wrap-up documentation has been submitted.
The Civil Estimator/Project Manager will work with the Project Management team to assign employees and equipment and work with the Project Foreman to ensure compatible expectations between the Project Management team and on-site employees. You will place orders, track deliveries, ensure quality construction standards are met and oversee project progress. Analyze, manage, and mitigate risk and uphold the standard of safety to meet or exceed client’s or legislation standards. You will assemble information for progress/final billings, address client concerns and keep clients informed at all times.
As the successful candidate, you are a Professional Civil Engineer with proven experience in construction management and project estimating. You have knowledge of civil construction methods, rules, regulations, and quality standards along with a positive can-do attitude approach to problem solving. The Senior Estimator/Project Manager is detail oriented, thorough, organized, and proactive with a solid focus on safety and environmental considerations. You are someone who is energetic and has excellent relationship, communication and listening skills.
