WCB Nova Scotia is looking for a talented Communications Advisor to join their team to support a range of external and internal communications and partnerships projects, activities and issues as well as preparing a variety of communications tactical plans and producing content. This includes website and intranet articles and information, social media content, key messages, briefing documents, publications, and surveys.
Reporting to the Manager, Communications and Partnerships, you will cover a range of professional communications and partnerships work, including development and implementation of tactical communications plans, government and stakeholder outreach plans, briefing documents, and supporting materials in relation to health and safety and workers’ compensation issues. This will be done in collaboration with the Senior Communications Advisor and in consultation with project leaders; implementing tactical communications plans to support projects. These include but are not limited to: the annual rate announcement; establishing and adhering to budgets, managing the production and distribution of communications content and materials including design, printing, and ongoing contact with vendors. You will also support partnership outreach activities including the CEO podcast, leadership outreach and special events.
As the Communications Advisor, you will be responsible for contracting, management, production and coordination of the Annual Report and employer newsletter and for functioning as the editor and writer of various publications, and maintaining the WCB’s website. You will also manage, facilitate and participate in focus groups and surveys, including preparation of preliminary research and process planning.
You will provide strategic communications counsel and support on issues concerning occupational health and safety and workers’ compensation, participate in or lead interdisciplinary projects and assignments, respond to inquiries from the general public, prepare speeches, non-routine correspondence, prepare and deliver presentations, and coordinate information sessions or events for internal and external customers.

About You
As the ideal candidate, you have a degree or diploma in Public Relations coupled with two years’ experience in a strategic communications environment (or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience). Furthermore, you have experience in internal and external communications including developing strategic communications plans. You are highly analytical and research-oriented whether that be statistical, literary or electronic. You are known to be interpersonal, organized, and resourceful in the workplace. Your writing and presentation skills are outstanding and you have developed strong project management skills throughout your career. Navigating social media platforms to deliver targeted communication and marketing plans comes naturally to you.
