Position Summary:

Are you a creative and strategic communicator seeking an opportunity to make a meaningful impact? We are looking for a passionate and innovative Communications Manager to oversee the development and execution of comprehensive communication strategies and enhance our mission. This role provides the opportunity to shape how we engage with diverse audiences, share compelling stories, and strengthen our brand presence in Atlantic Canada and beyond. As a key member of our team, you will collaborate with senior leadership, lead a talented communications team, and manage relationships with media and other stakeholders to make a tangible difference in advancing ReCover’s goals and enhancing ReCover’s visibility and influence.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning

  • Design and implement a comprehensive Marketing & Communications Strategy based on market research with building owners/managers, the finance sector, and the labor market industry.
  • Partner with senior leadership to align communication efforts with organizational priorities and campaigns.
  • Drive major communication initiatives, marketing campaigns, and departmental projects that elevate ReCover’s visibility and impact.

Team Leadership and Development

  • Lead, mentor, and inspire the Communications Specialist, fostering professional growth and creativity.
  • Foster a creative culture within the communications team, encouraging new ideas and approaches.

Content Creation Management

  • Craft and oversee the development of high-quality, engaging content across all channels, including press releases, newsletters, social media, and marketing materials.
  • Ensure content aligns with brand guidelines and organizational values.
  • Develop content for an interactive website that streamlines the application process for clients, enabling them to easily apply for programs while simultaneously optimizing and expediting the internal review and approval process. This tool will enhance user experience and improve overall operational efficiency and will enable Recover to provide detailed information about our programs and qualifying criteria including messaging around our capacity in terms of number of approvals by quarter as an example.
  • Develop tools and resources, such as program guides and case studies, to resonate with diverse audience needs.

Media and Stakeholder Relations

  • Serve as the primary media contact, building and maintaining strong relationships with key media outlets and influencers.
  • Collaborate with outsourced marketing firms to ensure ReCover’s messaging remains consistent.

Brand and Crisis Management

  • Enforce brand guidelines and ensure all communication materials reflect ReCover’s brand identity and values.
  • Develop and implement crisis communication plans, providing leadership and media training for team members.
  • Act as or prepare the spokespeople for high-stake situations to maintain organizational reputation.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement

  • Stay ahead of industry trends to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement in communication strategies.
  • Oversee updates to ReCover’s website, ensuring it remains up to date and engaging.

Qualifications and Skills:

The ideal candidate should hold a bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field; a master’s degree is considered an asset. We will also consider equivalent combinations of education and experience. The candidate must have at least five years of relevant experience in a communications role, including a minimum of two years in a managerial position.

This role requires a proven track record of developing and implementing effective communication strategies, paired with excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills. Strong leadership qualities are essential, as is the ability to motivate and inspire teams toward achieving their objectives.

Experience in crisis communication and brand management is necessary, along with proficiency in digital communication tools and platforms, including social media management. Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects efficiently while meeting deadlines are also critical for success in this position.
