Orion M.C. Inc is a commercial builder located in Saint John, New Brunswick; a part of the Northrup Company which has been around for approximately 70 years. Venor is proud to be partnering with Northrup to recruit a skilled Construction Site Superintendent to oversee their upcoming projects.
In this role, you will be responsible for efficiently managing on-site personnel and ensuring the timely completion of projects. Effective communication is crucial as you will collaborate regularly with diverse teams, including construction workers, architects, and engineers. The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record of implementing and administering the New Brunswick Occupational Health and Safety Act, while also ensuring strict adherence to Northrup Safety Plan. You will oversee large and small commercial and residential projects that must be completed within budget and according to schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and track project progress.
- Monitor and report on project progress.
- Manage material stock and orders.
- Ensure a safe, clean, and orderly job site.
- Resolve on-site issues and emergencies.
- Administer Safety Plan (as defined in the safety plan). Actively promote a safe work site
- Be thoroughly knowledgeable of plans, specifications, and addenda.
- Organize and plan work: Maintain an organized set of drawings, specifications, and addendums; maintain organized shop drawings.
- Provide direction and coordinate the work of subtrades: Hold sub trade coordination meetings regularly; distribute minutes.
- Oversee all day-to-day job site activities.
- Ensure quality of the work satisfies the contract drawings and specifications: Continually review trades workmanship, ensure products being installed are as specified and are in accordance with reviewed shop drawings.
- Coordinate with independent inspection and testing agencies.
- Ensure schedule and budget is achieved.
- Chair weekly or bi-weekly subtrade meetings to plan the work and identify potential hold up or delays. Prepare and distribute meeting minutes.
- Project security execution. Ensure site is secure at end of work period.
- Maintain positive working relationship with clients, consultants, suppliers and subtrades.
- Complete daily superintendent reports.
- Complete time sheets for own forces work.
- Control materials on sire: Record material/equipment deliveries; organize laydown area; ensure trades comply.
- All concrete delivery slips and concrete pump to be signed by Superintendent.
- All materials/equipment to Castle Rock account to be inspected and signed for by Superintendent.
- Maintain field records, documentation:
- Data for billings
- Change orders
- Shop drawings
- Safety minutes, reports
- Receiving records
- Purchase orders
- Daily reports
- Possible claim issues
- Maintain as built records.
- Report to the Project Manager:
- Labour matters
- Safety matters
- Progress relative to schedule
- Field matters of significance
- Job Close Out
- Deficiencies and punch lists
- Commissioning and hand over
- Finalize as built drawings
- Demobilize and clean up
- Account for Castle Rock tools and equipment
- Secure all field documents, package and ship to Saint John office
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a construction superintendent.
- Knowledge of local quality, safety, and health guidelines for construction job sites.
- Thorough understanding of construction operations and processes.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to lead and inspire teams.
