Our client, L&A Metalworks Inc. is a metal fabricator located in Fredericton, New Brunswick. They manufacture to print, for a select group of OEMs, who supply industrial customers including oil refineries and power generating plants, with a full range of process systems for gas flow diversion and pollution extraction systems. We are excited to be partnered with them to hire a Controller.
As a Controller you are an enthusiastic, self-starter who will have the ability to help create the big picture whilst keeping your finger on the pulse of the day to day operations within the organization. Working independently, you thrive in helping your organization understand the costs of operations, communicating financial results and profitability to the rest of the ownership team.
The primary duties of the Controller include but not limited to:
- Managing the accuracy and productivity of the day to day accounting
- Coordinate and direct the preparation of the annual budget and financial forecasts
- Develop and issue timely monthly financial statements including forecasts and variance analysis
- Manage and comply with government reporting and tax filings
- Complete year end close process and liaise with external auditor
- Perform cash flow management by measuring and forecasting cash inflow and outflow to predict short term and medium term cash position
- Manage and lead the accounting, administration and operations team to calculate the work in progress
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
- Continue to evaluate processes to ensure optimal efficiency and company needs are achieved while recognizing opportunities for improvement in processes
As the ideal candidate, you have several years of progressive accounting experience. You will have a strong knowledge of accounting principles together with strong organization skills and a proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a growing scale up business. With a continuous improvement mindset you will have a high level of attention to detail with a proven track record of superior accuracy. The successful candidate will be a strong team leader with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. A CPA designation would be an asset.
