Phoenix is a non-profit, community-based organization located in Kjipuktuk / Halifax, Nova Scotia. Since 1987, Phoenix has been dedicated to supporting youth between the ages of 11 and 24, their families, and communities across multiple locations in Halifax. On their behalf, we are recruiting for a Development Officer for their team.
Reporting to the Director of Development, the Development Officer will manage and broaden a portfolio of direct response campaigns, monthly giving, tribute & memorial donations, and contribute to grants & sponsorships through effective cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities. Working closely with the Fund Development team, the Development Officer is responsible for developing tailored strategies to deepen current and build new relationships and will contribute to the ongoing management, implementation, and evaluation of the fundraising strategic plan to meet the growing needs of Phoenix.
Duties and Responsibilities Include:
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate annual giving (direct response campaigns, monthly giving, tribute, and in-memorial gifts).
- Contribute to smaller-scale grants and sponsorships.
- Identify, build, and sustain relationships with donors and partners.
- Prepare and deliver high-quality proposals, presentations, and other communication materials for prospects, donors, and partners.
- Engage and mobilize senior volunteers to support fundraising initiatives.
- Provide donor stewardship through impact reporting, tours, hosting meetings, and customized engagement, in addition to fulfilling stewardship plans and activation.
- Support the agency’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through learning opportunities, critical self-reflection, and professional development.
- Work under Phoenix’s policies, procedures, and framework of practice.
The selected candidate will have experience with The Raiser’s Edge/NXT database and possess excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written skills. With a combination of education and 3-5 years of experience in the non-profit fundraising environment, you are comfortable networking and can build meaningful relationships to engage donors in a meaningful way.
