DevOps Engineer

Venor is proud to partner with NOVONIX on their search for a DevOps Engineer. As a leader in the industry with operations in both Canada and the United States, NOVONIX develops advanced, high-performance materials and equipment, and provides consultative testing services for the global lithium-ion battery market. They provide the necessary materials and technologies their clients need to manufacture batteries that must have longer lifecycles, are more energy-efficient, have reduced chemical use and waste generation, and support a cleaner power input for an environmentally sustainable energy future. 

The NOVONIX Battery Technology Solutions division, based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, focuses on innovative battery research and development, along with providing advanced battery testing equipment and services on a global scale. In Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA, their Anode Materials division manufactures synthetic graphite anode materials used to make lithium-ion batteries, which power electric vehicles, personal electronics, medical devices, energy storage units, and more. 

What you’ll be doing
This person will report directly to the Sr. Manager Data Solutions. As the DevOps Engineer, you will be joining a world-class Data Solutions team that is delivering innovative solutions to tough problems. 

Regular responsibilities include: 

  • Coordinate with data scientists, software developers, and battery engineers to design and evolve our existing infrastructure 
  • Experience with Cloud Service Providers including administering a cloud data warehouse 
  • Deploying environments through Infrastructure as Code 
  • Review system capabilities and evaluate for efficiencies and improvements 
  • Architect, develop, and manage our data infrastructure

What we’re looking for
The ideal candidate for this role would be someone who is a highly motivated self-starter who loves to take initiative. This person would be someone who is resourceful, intellectually curious, collaborative, and constantly in pursuit of customer satisfaction.

Technical requirements include:

  • Computer Science or Engineering Degree (or other equivalent diploma and/or equivalent experience) 
  • 5+ years experience (ideally 1-3 years’ experience in cloud technologies)
  • Very experienced with version control systems (ideally Git)
  • Experienced in DevOps/Data Ops, CI/CD tools, infrastructure as code, and containerization and container orchestration like Docker and Kubernetes

Bonus points if you also have experience/familiarity with:

  • Database schema design, creating calculated metrics
  • Creating alerts and reports
  • SQL, Python, R, Pyspark, Scala
