Venor has partnered with Crosby Molasses Company for the recruitment of a Director of Brand Marketing.

Crosby Molasses Company has been importing the world’s finest molasses to the East Coast of Canada and supplying retailers across Canada. Their focus has always been on delivering food to Canadians and minimizing environmental impact, ensuring long term, sustainable farming and transportation practices, and bettering our communities.

Reporting to the President, the Director of Brand Marketing will be responsible for company brand and marketing strategy and implementation, customer and consumer insights, innovation lead, market and competitive intelligence, industry trends, stewardship of company brand and branded products and Government relations and funding.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as an active member of the Senior Leadership Team to identify, develop, and implement operational and company goals and priorities across all business segments (focusing on the 4Ps – product, pricing, promotion, place)
  • Understand the nuances of our market area and translate customer research, market conditions, and competitor data into plans and go-to-market strategies
  • Lead the development and execution of our brand and marketing strategies across print, broadcast, and online platforms in close collaboration with sales and the Senior Leadership Team
  • Ensure the production of valuable and engaging content for our website and social media platforms to attract and convert our target markets and audiences
  • Build and maintain effective and productive working relationships with sales, finance, and operations, ensuring that all relevant team members are involved and kept informed of marketing objectives and progress on initiatives
  • Develop and maintain key performance indicators and accountability measures for brand and marketing initiatives, adjusting plans as may be needed to meet changing market and competitive conditions
  • Develop and manage the departmental budget, tracking and reporting on spending and variance analysis to ensure spending is on plan
  • Lead the relationships with external communications, research and advertising agencies and other creative suppliers, overseeing their scope of work, spending and deliverables
  • Manage government relations, staying current with, and coordinating, applicable funding programs for key initiatives
  • Actively engage with the Director of Sales & Business Development to leverage knowledge of consumer and market trends and data to provide guidance and consultation on sales and business development, as well as product innovation ideas and initiatives
  • Work collaboratively across various functions to design proofs-of-concept to illustrate market traction and/or gain in-market learnings for new products and/or service offerings

As the ideal candidate, you have post-secondary education in marketing. You have several years of industry experience in a senior-level marketing position, with at least 3-5 years of supervisory experience. You have a continuous improvement mindset and excitement for innovation, trends for continuous improvement and innovation. A strategic, big picture thinker, you can also roll up your sleeves and drill down into the details when needed.
