The Saint John Airport (YSJ) is a community based, not-for-profit corporation serving the air
travel needs of residents of southwestern New Brunswick. The airport is a key element in the
social development of the Greater Saint John region and a vital gateway to economic growth in
New Brunswick. YSJ reinvests all profits back into the airport and local communities.
Venor is proud to partner with Saint John Airport in the recruitment for a Director of Commercial
Development. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Director of Commercial
Development will be a key member of the senior management team tasked with space planning
and land development opportunities within the Saint John Airport. This includes leading the
development and execution of a comprehensive land development plan for commercial property
at the airport as well as a marketing plan for land development. This role will be responsible for
land development of YSJ’s Commercial properties including Airside, Terminal Building campus
and general commercial with the goal of maximizing return to YSJ. The Director will lead the
development of air services operations. This includes leading the effort to develop cargo
operations and leading initiatives for development options regarding expanding flight options,
introducing new routes and negotiating with new carriers.
As the ideal candidate, you have a Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field combined
with 10 + years of commercial land development and retail leasing expertise. Experience within
the aviation industry will be an asset. Strong business acumen and analytical skills are
imperative to be successful in this position. As an exceptional communicator, you have the ability
to cultivate and leverage relationships that can help advance the organization’s strategic
objectives. You are an excellent negotiator with strong project management skills. Experience
communicating and partnering with a wide variety of stakeholders will be crucial in this position.
