Reporting to the VP, Innovation and Growth, the Director of Digital Operations will play a crucial role in shaping the technological landscape of the institution, supporting their commitment to academic excellence, student success, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities include but not limited to following:

Strategic Planning and Leadership

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive digital strategy aligned with the college’s mission and goals.
  • Lead the Digital Operations team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with senior management to identify and prioritize digital initiatives and projects.

Team Management:

  • Lead and mentor a team of IT professionals, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
  • Provide guidance, training, and performance evaluations to ensure high standards of service delivery.

Digital Innovation and Transformation:

  • Identify emerging technologies and trends that can benefit the college, proposing and leading digital transformation initiatives.
  • Drive the adoption of digital solutions that enhance the student experience, streamline administrative processes, and support teaching and research.
  • Collaborate with academic departments to develop and implement e-learning and digital content strategies.

Digital Infrastructure Management:

  • Oversee the maintenance and enhancement of the college’s digital infrastructure, including networks, servers, and cloud services.
  • Ensure the reliability, security, and scalability of digital systems and platforms.
  • Implement best practices for data management, cybersecurity, and disaster recovery.

Cybersecurity Oversight: 

  • Implement and maintain robust cybersecurity measures to protect the college’s data, networks, and information systems from potential threats and breaches.

Technology Integration and Support:

  • Manage the integration of new technologies and systems to enhance the academic and administrative functions of the college.
  • Provide technical support and training to faculty, staff, and students to optimize the use of digital tools and resources.
  • Monitor and analyze the performance of digital systems, addressing issues promptly to minimize disruptions.
  • Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies and software solutions that align with educational needs and improve operational efficiency across departments.

Budget Management: 

  • Develop and manage the IT department budget, ensuring cost-effective procurement of hardware, software, and IT services while maintaining quality and reliability.

Compliance and Policy: 

  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, including data protection laws (e.g., GDPR, PIPEDA), and develop IT policies and procedures to uphold security and privacy standards.

Vendor and Stakeholder Management:

  • Manage relationships with technology vendors, negotiating contracts and ensuring service level agreements are met.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to gather requirements, provide updates, and address concerns related to digital operations.
  • Represent the college in industry forums and networks, staying informed about best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Negotiate and manage relationships with IT vendors, contractors, and service providers to optimize service delivery and support ongoing IT initiatives.

Collaboration: 

  • Work collaboratively with academic and administrative departments to understand their IT needs and provide timely solutions and support.

Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity: 

  • Develop and maintain plans for IT disaster recovery and business continuity to minimize disruption and ensure timely recovery of critical systems and services.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.

• Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in IT management, preferably in a higher education or academic setting.

• Proven leadership skills with experience in managing and developing high-performing IT teams.

• Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, cybersecurity practices, and emerging technologies.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

• Strategic thinker with the ability to align IT initiatives with organizational goals and priorities.

• Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, ITIL) are a plus.
