Venor is proud to partner with Champlain Seafood (www.champlainseafood.com) who are seeking a Financial Analyst to join their team in Moncton, New Brunswick.

Champlain Seafood is the largest processor of lobster and snow crab sourced from the Canadian Maritimes and American Northeast. The company has been recognized as one of the Best Managed Companies in Canada and one of the Best Places to work in Atlantic Canada over the last three years.

With multiple processing operations and continued growth across the business, the organization is investing further in the financial tools and insights that support day-to-day operations and long-term planning.

Working alongside an experienced corporate finance group and a strong plant leadership team, this role will help strengthen data visibility across production, costing, and margins. It’s an opportunity for a Financial Analyst to become embedded within the operation, working closely with plant teams to better capture and understand performance drivers and support informed decision making.

The successful candidate will help connect plant operations with corporate finance, using strong analytical skills and practical insight to support a growing production platform focused on efficiency, continuous improvement, and long-term success.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Act as the financial bridge between corporate finance and plant operations, supporting Controllers, senior finance leaders, and the VP of Production.
  • Take ownership of detailed cost accounting, yield analysis, and margin analysis within a commodity-based production environment.
  • Build and maintain operational reporting using visualization tools (Power BI preferred) to improve real-time decision-making.
  • Proactively investigate variances in production, costing, and inventory.
  • Partner closely with plant leadership to understand raw material inputs, production processes, and yield impacts.
  • Review, strengthen, and align costing models to ensure accuracy, consistency, and scalability across sites.
  • Identify recurring ad hoc requests and develop automated or systemized solutions to eliminate manual processes.
  • Support the implementation and optimization of inventory systems and digitized processes.
  • Bring structure and analytical rigor to environments historically driven by entrepreneurial instinct.
  • Conduct financial and operational benchmarking and comparative analysis of global industry peers

What We Are Looking For

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in financial analysis, cost accounting, or business analysis within a commodity-based production or manufacturing environment (e.g., food processing, agriculture, aquaculture, protein, CPG, industrial processing).
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing cost accounting, yield analysis, inventory flows, and margin performance in a production setting.
  • Innate curiosity around the how and why of a complex, fast-moving business
  • Advanced excel capabilities; experience with Power BI or other visualization tools strongly preferred.
  • Digital-first mindset with the aptitude to master and implement tools such as Python, Fabric, or AI-enhanced dataflows.
  • CPA designation (or progress toward CPA) considered a strong asset; equivalent industry-based financial experience will also be considered.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment
  • Proven track record of proactive problem-solving; does not wait for direction but seeks out opportunities for improvement.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, capable of translating complex analysis into clear recommendations

At Venor and Champlain Seafood, we embrace a culture of belonging in the workplace.  We encourage all applications, with the understanding that we all come from different backgrounds and different walks of life, offering unique perspectives and experiences.
