Venor is excited to partner with our client, East Coast Wild Blueberry Ltd., in their search for a Finance Manager. Working closely with the owners and management team, the Finance Manager will provide leadership in project management and strategic planning and is responsible for all aspects of accounting operations. 

The successful candidate will oversee all transactions related to receivables, payables, payroll, government remittances and financial reporting. You will also be responsible for carrying out a detailed and ongoing cost analysis, identifying revenue and cost drivers, monitoring the financial performance of the company, preparing forecasts, and budget management.

Additional duties and responsibilities include:

  • Maintain the company’s records on Sage 50, ensuring postings are done in a timely manner
  • Develop and maintain an appropriate record-keeping system
  • Prepare sales invoices, and related shipping documents as required
  • Manage cash flow including account receivable collection and account payable disbursement
  • Reconcile monthly bank and credit card statements
  • Review payroll and communicate with service providers as needed
  • Prepare monthly HST remittances
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
  • Review production and inventory reports and reconciliations
  • Prepare monthly, annual, and project-specific budgets and forecasts
  • Compare company performance against established Key Performance Indicators
  • Prepare year-end financial statements, tax returns and working papers, and assist external accountants as necessary
  • Ensure a reliable system of internal controls is in place to provide accurate reporting on financial results
  • Liaise with and support strong external relationships with corporate service providers, e.g.bankers, investment advisors, insurance providers, and suppliers and clients

As the ideal candidate, you possess a CPA designation and are proficient with Microsoft Office Suite application, and Sage 50 Accounting software. You have strong communication and interpersonal skills and can work well independently, or in a team environment. The successful candidate will be highly detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple requests with fluctuating competing priorities and deadlines. 

The Finance Manager will conduct themselves professionally and maintain strict confidentiality with all matters relating to company activities while adhering to the established best practices, standards, and procedures. Knowledge of human resource practices and procedures, and experience working in a production-based environment is considered an asset.
