About the Role

As the GIS/Geomatics Specialist, reporting to the Manager of Engineering Services, you’ll be responsible for: 

• Maintaining, developing, expanding and administering the Town ESRI ArcGIS Platform and user licenses;
• Identifying , developing  and leading initiatives to gather field data in support of development of the Town GIS Platform.
• Engaging with and supporting various Town Departments and Programs to deliver GIS/mapping products and solutions;
• Exploring  and fostering opportunities to deliver GIS expertise and services;
• Designing, developing and implementing systems and databases for geospatial data;
• Creating, editing, revising, updating and correcting GIS databases, maps, and features;
• Standardizing mapping services and products delivered through the various Town programs and services;
• Operating specialized computer hardware and software and peripheral equipment to gather, manage, analyze and display geospatial data;
• Administering and troubleshooting  applications and GIS solutions, and provide training and technical support to Town GIS users;
• Submitting GIS/Geomatics Program proposals and user operator procedures to sustain and expand the GIS & Mapping capabilities and services of the Town.

We’re seeking a skilled and motivated professional who excels in both technical expertise and interpersonal communication. Key qualifications include:

Skills & Knowledge

• Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Geomatics or Diploma in Geographic Information Systems/GIS Technology
• 5 years relevant experience
• Experience with MS Office Suite and CAD
• Extensive working knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS products.
• Experience using GPS/Total Station equipment to collect survey-precision data, as well as experience processing field survey data for integration/implementation in GIS geodatabases.
• Demonstrable experience with developing geodatabases, managing and administering GIS platforms.
• Understanding of financial and accounting principles.
• Knowledge of Asset Management and project management principles, processes, and practices.
• Experience in developing and delivering training programs/workshops.
• Class 5 Drivers License required.
