Reporting to an inspirational accounting leader, while working alongside a loyal diverse tenured team the Hotel Controller will work cross functionally with the growing Hotel Management teams at both the Delta Hotel by Marriott Dartmouth and Muir Hotel in Halifax. The Hotel Controller’s responsibilities will span in all aspects of daily operations of their hospitality establishments, including budgeting, accounting, inventory management, account reconciliations, payroll, trend analysis, and labor productivity oversight. The successful candidate will focus on meeting Accounts Receivable collection targets and maintaining timely payables in alignment with cash flow projections. The Controller will maintain and adhere to the hotel brand financial reporting, reconciliation, taxation, and expense management standards as each area will be critical for driving success across the accounting portfolio. The Controller will lead by example and meet the hotel budget objectives and implement cost-effective strategies to improve their bottom line. The Hotel Controller will work closely with an inclusive team of two and partner cross-functionally with multiple divisions where they will play a key part in maximizing overall profitability.

As the ideal candidate, you will have a post-secondary degree or technical diploma with 3-5 years of pertinent experience, ideally gained within a hospitality context. Or, you have a CPA designation with an equivalent combination of education and experience. You will bring a versatile skill set covering budgeting, accounting, inventory management, account reconciliations, payroll, trend analysis, and labor productivity. Your leadership, proficient communication, and technical accounting abilities will foster teamwork and precise guidance, ensuring smooth operations within specified timeframes. Proficiency with systems such as Opera, OnTrack, Aloha, and CI/TY, as well as familiarity with Marriott Hotels and their platforms, will be advantageous in this role.
