Through applied physics and advanced design, they are pioneering a new class of multi-functional materials called metamaterials, which have engineered properties that go beyond what is found in nature. META is headquartered in Halifax, Nova Scotia and has offices in London, England and Pleasanton, California.

On behalf META, we have an exciting opportunity for a HR Manager to join their team. Located at their head office in Dartmouth, NS, the Human Resource Manager will support all departments of the company. Working closely with all levels of management in the recruitment and retention of the best talent, the HR Manager will work to ensure execution of META’s mission statement and commitment to excellence in all aspects of both internal and external human relations. The HR Manager will also oversee and implement best policies and practices, in alignment with applicable legislation globally, working to continue META’s commitment to an environment of personal responsibility, mutual respect, and healthy work/life balance. 

The successful candidate will have a range of duties covering the breadth of HR. You will oversee company compensation and benefits plans and manage relationships with relevant vendors and other service providers as well as providing guidance, and leadership to managers and employees with regard to performance management, learning, and professional development.

You are detail oriented, providing and maintaining relevant data to monitor and report on key HR metrics. With exceptional communication, you are able to timely address any employee requests and grievances, ensuring HR practices comply with both applicable labour regulations and internal policies & procedure. You have experience with recruitment and hiring, working with hiring managers, as well as external recruitment agencies, bringing all parties together in the ultimate goal of exceptional hiring to meet company objectives.

As the ideal candidate, you have experience working within a startup company and are seeking an opportunity to make an impact within an organization. You are proactive, driven, with an exceptional attention to detail. You have the ability to set priorities, manage time efficiently, and work with a minimum of supervision. You embrace new technologies and processes, spearheading new initiatives. 

You will have a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources management required or equivalent experience. You have a proven track record of being able to work independently, to identify developmental needs of employees and to provide coaching, mentoring, and other assistance. Previous experience of working with a highly-technical employee pool, specializing in various engineering fields, as well as assisting international candidates navigate the Canada and NS Immigration system is certainly advantageous.
