What You’ll Be Doing:

GIT is looking for an experienced Supply Chain Manager to join their head office, located in Dartmouth, NS. This full-time, permanent position will work collaboratively with the GIT team to implement, monitor, and expedite the supply chain activities of the company. Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, the Supply Chain Manager will be responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of products, from receiving raw materials to the delivery of final products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and track the shipment of final products according to customer requirements and ensure that customs declaration documentation is properly executed to avoid any customer delays.
  • Negotiate and mediate supplier agreements and price/quality disputes to manage the supplier relationships.
  • Monitor supplier performance and maintain metrics for process improvement and supplier management (development, selection, and rating).
  • Act as the primary material department contact and interface with other departments to improve material planning and monitor material performance metrics.
  • Extract data from an MRP system to analyze and adjust inventory control levels while implementing strategies that will optimize inventory levels to proactively resolve issues before they occur.
  • Analyze business processes and supply and demand of parts and services to identify projects that will deliver significant cost savings and value improvement.
  • Perform demand and supply market analysis and assess short-term and long-term pricing trends, raw material availability, and industry capacities.
  • Ensure compliance with company and government procurement policies and procedures, ethical practices and adherence to relevant laws and regulations.

What We’re Looking For:

As the successful candidate, you have a BSc/BA in business administration, supply chain management, logistics or in a relevant industry, combined with a minimum of five (5) years of purchasing/procurement or supply chain management experience directing and overseeing the supply chain lead, along with designing and developing supply chain related processes, plans and policies to support the delivery system.

As the ideal candidate, you have a solid understanding of material planning and forecasting, along with an advanced level of negotiation skills when managing supplier contracts and cost reductions. You have extensive knowledge of laws and regulations related to international shipping and customs, ideally related to manufacturing. You are experienced in sourcing raw materials, components, subassemblies, and/or packaging for internal production as well as finding, qualifying, assessing, and auditing suppliers (including international suppliers). Project management training or knowledge of the principles and practices of project management is preferred. Experience with marine technology or knowledge of the marine coating industry is considered an asset. Recognized Professional Supply Chain Designation (CPP/SCMP) is considered an asset.
