Venor is proud to partner with our client, Jost Vineyards, to hire a Maintenance Lead.
Jost Vineyards, Atlantic Canada’s largest vineyard, is located on the beautiful North Shore of Nova Scotia. Celebrating 40 years of crafting award-winning Nova Scotia fine wines, Jost Vineyards is seeking a skilled and experienced Maintenance Lead to join their team, reporting directly to the General Manager.
Position Overview The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all production and packaging equipment to ensure efficient and safe operations. This role involves working closely with the production team to minimize downtime and maximize productivity while maintaining high safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
The Maintenance Lead will safely conduct routine maintenance and repairs on production equipment, including bottling, bagging, and canning lines, to ensure efficient operation. Responsibilities include troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, conducting preventive maintenance to minimize downtime, and documenting equipment conditions.
The Maintenance Lead will also engage in building operation improvements (electrical, plumbing, HVAC) and assist with maintenance projects as needed. Support for production areas is essential, including operating packaging equipment, forklift duties, and involvement in warehouse operations. They will actively participate in harvest operations, specifically processing grapes on the crush pad.
Adherence to safety protocols and workplace health regulations is critical, along with involvement in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment performance. Participation in the Preventive Maintenance Program, completion of scheduled maintenance tasks, and monthly Sales/Operation Team Meetings is required, as well as maintaining accurate service logs and equipment performance reports.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Proven experience as an Industrial Mechanic, Maintenance Technician, or similar role in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with pneumatics, hydraulics, conveyors, and automated systems.
- Knowledge of electrical systems and ability to perform basic wiring repairs.
- Welding and fabrication experience is an asset.
- Certifications:
- Trade certification as an Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) or equivalent experience preferred.
- Forklift certification is an asset.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50+ lbs.) and work on your feet throughout the day.
- Work Hours: Availability to work 42.5 hours per week, with flexibility for overtime and occasional weekend shifts as needed.
