As the business transitions to renewable energy, they continue to invest in new technology and systems for reliable grid performance while working towards their goal of reaching 80% renewable energy by 2030. And in keeping with their Customer First strategy, the company is looking to leverage their vast data for new insights and value streams for customers. In lieu of this, they have created an exciting new leadership position of Manager, Data Insights & Analytics (Customer & Grid) to support Nova Scotia Power’s journey of value creation through data.
We are seeking a dynamic leader with strengths in data science, analytics and visualization with the proven ability to work with various business units while championing a new department. As the leader of the Data Insights & Analytics Team you will play a vital role in leveraging data to inform customer insights, optimize operations, enhance efficiency, and drive strategic decision-making. You will advance the data analytics practice in Nova Scotia Power by leading a team of data professionals and through ongoing collaboration with data and business leaders across the organization to develop innovative, value-based solutions for customers.
As the Manager, Data Insights & Analytics (Customer & Grid), you will be accountable to deliver value through data. You will have the opportunity to:
- Lead a team to develop analytics solutions supporting customer and grid management functions.
- Build strong relationships with leaders across customer service, engineering, operations, and IT.
- Oversee analytics priorities and resource allocation to align with strategic objectives.
- Manage external vendors for analytics solution delivery and support.
- Stay informed on emerging technologies to enhance analytics processes and products.
- Promote analytics value and skill development across the organization.

- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., data science, statistics, or engineering)
- Proven experience in data analytics, with expertise in machine learning, predictive analytics, and data visualization (energy sector experience considered an asset)
- Strong leadership and team management skills, including vendor and stakeholder management
- Exceptional written and presentation abilities to simplify and convey complex data
- Skilled in prioritizing and delivering multiple initiatives within deadlines
- Strategic and innovative mindset to identify and drive new opportunities in a transforming industry
- Outstanding negotiation and influence skills to resolve critical issues and deliver value-based outcomes
