On behalf of our client, Graybar Canada, we are actively seeking a Manager of Accounting to join their team in Halifax, NS. Graybar Canada are an employee-owned company with 30 operating locations from coast to coast. As a leading wholesale distributor for thousands of products, they have the know-how to provide product solutions in the electrical, lighting, communications data, solar and utility industries and they offer an entire spectrum of related supply-chain management and logistics services.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Reporting to the Director of Accounting, the Manager of Accounting will be responsible for overseeing corporate admin, accounts payable, and general accounting, while also leading technological, procedural, and process improvements in a multi-division, multi-location accounting environment. The Manager of Accounting will use systems such as banking, credit cards, fixed assets, and expense reporting to perform tasks from journal entries to analysis while meeting deadlines. They will collaborate with the internal management team, liaise with auditors, vendors, and government agencies, and play a big role in budget processes and external and internal audits. This will include preparing budget schedules, working papers, process documentation, and other related tasks. The Manager of Accounting will take direction from the Director of Accounting and VP of Finance while also being responsible for any other duties and responsibilities as determined.
What We’re Looking For:
As the ideal candidate, you possess a BBA or BCom as well as a CPA designation and three to five years of experience in the wholesale distribution or on-line retail industry with established supervisory skills, or an equivalent mix of education and experience. You have a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, with a focus on financial reporting and analysis, along with the proven ability to lead and manage a team of accounting professionals while ensuring accuracy and efficiency in all accounting processes and procedures. The successful candidate will be dependable, hands-on, and possess exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders. Additionally, problem-solving, decision-making, adaptability, attention to detail, and proactivity in identifying areas for improvement and implementing effective solutions to enhance financial performance and reporting are just some of the competencies you exhibit on a daily basis.
