Venor is proud to partner with our client, the St. John’s Board of Trade, in their search for a Manager of Communications. The St. John’s Board of Trade serves as a powerful advocate for the business community in Newfoundland and Labrador, representing over 700 members from a wide range of industries and sectors. Together, they strive to build a thriving business environment by fostering growth, innovation, and success for all.
Reporting to the CEO, the Manager of Communications will play a critical role in supporting the organization’s strategic plan and ensuring its success by building and maintaining strong relationships with diverse business members, community partners, associations, and all levels of government. They will lead and manage internal and external communications and marketing efforts, supporting the organization’s mission to celebrate, support, and connect businesses, helping them to grow and inspire our province and region. As a key member of the senior leadership team, they will be positioned to influence the strategic direction and advocacy initiatives of the organization in addition to being responsible for effectively communicating and promoting the organization’s vision, mission, values, and strategic priorities, developing and managing communications and content strategies, planning events, assessing risks, managing the Board of Trade’s social media channels, implementing member engagement initiatives, maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and reporting to the Board of Directors. Additional duties may also be required as needed.
The ideal candidate for this role will have a proven track record of success in communications or public relations, with 5-8 years of experience in the field. They will have experience managing communications and/or public relations across a variety of industries, from small businesses to multinational companies. A university degree in public relations, communications, or a related field is required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
The candidate should have a deep understanding of strategic communications planning, execution, and measurement; content strategy, development, and execution; collaborating and integrating with teams; board reporting; and establishing communications policy, procedures, and/or guidelines. The candidate must have strong writing skills, able to compose compelling content for targeted audiences, and be able to manage projects seamlessly from start to finish.
