On behalf of Hatch, Venor is actively seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join their Sydney, NS office.

What You’ll be Doing:

As a Mechanical Engineer you will be part of an engineering team providing engineering services to large and small projects. Assist the Project Engineering Manager/Lead Mechanical Engineer with the delivery of project requirements as they relate to scope, cost and schedule. Perform system analyses, establish user requirements, analyze system functional and performance requirements, define design criteria, and establish system layouts and designs. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • You will prepare engineering calculations such as hydraulic modeling, equipment sizing and tank, pressure vessel or bin design and ensuring that all analyses satisfy user and system requirements 
  • You will prepare equipment technical specifications based on relevant process information and input received from other disciplines 
  • You will check contract scope documents defining installation requirements 
  • You will coordinate data sheets based on input received from other disciplines and Vendor packages including data management 
  • Prepare and contribute to technical memos and review project standard specifications and design criteria and  input to 3D models and 2D mechanical drawings 
  • Provide engineering seal to documents and drawings and input to engineering, operating and capital cost estimates 
  • Assist in the compilation and delivery of monthly engineering status reports 

What We’re Looking For: 

As the successful candidate, you have a bachelor’s degree in engineering and are registered as a P.Eng with Engineers Nova Scotia or another Canadian engineering  association. You have demonstrated experience of industry standards, regulations and codes pertinent to the mechanical engineering discipline.

As the successful candidate, you can effectively collaborate within a multidisciplinary project team and communicate with various team members to contribute to project success. You love working on a diverse team to solve challenging problems. You have excellent planning and organization skills to assess the progress and success of projects relating to timelines, budgets, and other project constraints.
