Venor is proud to partner with our client, Grieg Seafood, in their search for a Regional Director.

Grieg Seafood is a global leader in salmon aquaculture. The company operates farms in Norway’s Rogaland and Finnmark regions, as well as British Columbia and Newfoundland in Canada. With headquarters in Bergen, Norway, Grieg Seafood’s dynamic team of over 750 professionals spread across various regions plays a crucial role in the organization’s continued success and growth.

Position Overview

Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer of North America, the Regional Director will build on the organization’s existing strategic plan and determine how long-term goals are achieved while maintaining quality and profitable growth.

The Regional Director will improve the organizational structure that effectively meets the needs of the business and value chain. This position will ensure effective planning and execution through the establishment of a high-performing team to maintain sustainable and profitable operations. It is essential to secure and maintain the importance of good government, community, and other stakeholder relations.

The Regional Director also provides leadership, mentorship, and inspiration to the independently run business here in Canada while maintaining a clear understanding of the vision set by the corporate head office in Norway.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Driving sustainable growth at Grieg Seafood NL Ltd through efficient resource use, team development, and execution of short and long-term strategies.
  • Fostering mutually beneficial alliances with suppliers and customers, ensuring collaboration for shared benefits.
  • Leading dynamically in the province, communicating corporate directives efficiently, setting performance objectives, providing feedback, and ensuring accountability.
  • Consulting with senior management before decisions, nurturing top talent, setting performance accountability, fostering best practices, providing mentorship, and aligning employees with common goals.
  • Establishing annual financial plans and goals to enhance organizational and employee value.
  • Ensuring robust financial management, implementing systems for safeguarding assets, and collaborating with the Controller for accurate financial reporting.
  • Cultivating trust with senior management and Regional Directors, emphasizing Grieg Seafood’s corporate culture and a professional environment.
  • Analyzing and developing plans for continuous improvement, reducing overhead costs, and implementing integrated operational strategies.
  • Cultivating positive relationships with external stakeholders, focusing on mutual goal development and implementation.
  • Demonstrating a client-focused approach in business dealings, participating in trade shows to stay informed, and showcasing executive skills with a proven track record in strategic planning and premium product development.

Qualifications

  • Higher graduate degree, preferably in a relevant field.
  • Senior executive experience within operations, distribution and/or supply chain, in the aquaculture sector.
  • Past experience in a senior management team.
  • Understands the trends and issues currently facing the industry.
  • Experience in, or knowledge of, purchasing products from international sources.
  • Culturally sensitive and strong at negotiating and formalizing contracts.

Travel to hatchery/hatcheries, farm sites, production facilities, management meetings, trade shows and to customers/suppliers will be required.
