Venor is proud to partner with East River Shipyard, a growing service-based company in the Hubbards/Chester area, as we search for a Senior Accountant. This is an exciting opportunity for an accounting professional to play a key role in the company’s financial operations as they expand their team to support ongoing growth. If you are detail-oriented, comfortable with full-cycle accounting, and eager to contribute to operational decision-making, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
Main responsibilities:
- Manage full-cycle accounting, including accounts receivable/payable, payroll, financial reporting, and reconciliations
- Perform bookkeeping tasks, including CRA filings, tax remittances, and intercompany accounts
- Monitor, manage, and forecast cash flow to support operational needs
- Assist CFO with banking relationships and financing opportunities
- Take on operational decision-making responsibilities to ease the CFO’s workload
- Oversee multiple related corporations and manage intercompany transactions
- Address accounting discrepancies and ensure compliance with accounting standards
- Support general office administration tasks as part of a small, hands-on team
As the ideal candidate, you will have 3-4 years of experience as a general accountant or bookkeeper where you managed full-cycle accounting duties. While a CPA designation is not required, a strong foundation in accounting is essential—particularly if you’ve worked in a small business environment.
A bachelor’s degree or business diploma in accounting or administration is required. Your ability to work independently and make operational decisions is critical. Most importantly having the skill set and mindset to continue to deliver accounting tasks while adapting to a growing business will be what supports success in this position.
In this role, proficiency in QuickBooks Online and advanced MS Office Excel skills will be essential. Amongst storing technical and theoretical abilities, your approach to thrive in a flexible, hands-on environment, and your ability to collaborate closely with a small team will be important competencies to support and deliver on financial and operational goals,
