The Opportunity:
Reporting to the VP of Architecture, the Senior Architect provides architectural, technical, and design expertise while coordinating the successful completion of assigned building projects. Your work will include managing projects from initiation and developing building programs through the phases of schematic, design development, construction documents, tender, construction administration, and warranty phase. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge of conceptual design, building planning and detailing, and construction documentation
Key Responsibilities:
- Design safe, accessible, cost effective and efficient building layouts for the construction of new buildings, additions and renovations of existing facilities.
- Work collaboratively in a diverse, inclusive, and respectful manner with EastPoint’s fully in-house Architecture and Engineering Team.
- Lead a project team of internal and external professionals, consultants and service providers on various projects.
- Complete project designs on schedule and within budget.
- Identify, analyze and mitigate project risks.
- Assist with proposal preparation and EastPoint’s marketing.
- Ensure technical and design quality control.
Skills and Attributes:
- Master’s degree in architecture,
- Eight (8) years minimum architecture related experience.
- Registered member of the Nova Scotia Association of Architects (NSAA) or meet the requirements to become registered.
- Excellent understanding of the National Building Code of Canada.
- Experience leading and motivating a project team while inspiring confidence and creativity.
- Strong technical background and firm understanding of the construction industry and architecture and engineering principles.
- Excellent professionalism and judgement in risk management.
- Experience working with client stakeholders and providing feedback or negotiating contracts and agreements.
Other Requirements
- All successful applicants must meet requirements to obtain a minimum of Reliability Status clearance through the Canadian Industrial Security Directorate (CISD) within 6 months of start date.
