Venor has partnered with Parts for Trucks in their search for a Senior Financial Accountant to join their Dartmouth accounting and finance team. Parts for Trucks has been an industry leader providing parts and services to the heavy-duty trucking industry for over 100 years. Operating 32 sales/warehouse outlets and 15 service facilities from coast to coast, Parts for Trucks offers a complete range of products and services for all makes of trucks and trailers.

Reporting to the Corporate Controller while working alongside an inclusive growing team, the Senior Financial Accountant will lead and oversee the financial analysis and reporting functions relating to operations, inventory, pricing, and cost activities. Alongside the financial analysis and reporting duties, the Senior Financial Accountant will act as a key member for an ERP implementation while supporting traditional accounting tasks. The primary objective of the Senior Financial Accountant is to support the strategic decision-making process and identify opportunities for improvement.

Conducting thorough financial analysis, including variance analysis, margin, pricing, profitability analysis, as well as cost and foreign exchange analysis you will contribute to the organization’s financial integrity and help drive strategic decision-making through insightful recommendations. You will also be involved in ad-hoc analysis for initiatives such as opening new locations, acquisitions, and competitive analysis.

As the Senior Financial Accountant, you will be responsible for presenting financial reports, summaries, and forecasts to management, ensuring compliance with accounting principles and standards. Supporting internal and external audits and monitoring changes in accounting regulations, recommending adjustments will be required as needed. This role will also focus on streamlining processes and improving efficiency, and accuracy within the financial department.

Serving as the primary point of contact for the ERP system implementation and integration you will leverage your ERP implementation experience and monitor the system’s performance, proactively identifying any issues or inefficiencies, and recommending appropriate enhancements to improve optimal operation and functionality. Collaborating with cross-functional teams you will implement your recommendations and process improvements and provide effective oversight of the implementation, maintenance, and optimization of the ERP system.

As the ideal candidate, you will possess a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, along with a minimum of 3 years of experience in financial accounting, or an equivalent mix of education and experience. You will have in-depth knowledge, hands-on experience, and expertise in utilizing ERP systems for effective financial management. The successful candidate with have a strong understanding of internal controls, compliance requirements, and financial statements, with the ability to assess how business decisions impact performance metrics such as covenants and KPIs. A proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, the ability to prioritize tasks and responsibilities, adaptability, openness, flexibility, proactive problem-solving, and decision-making skills, as well as a genuine interest in learning and progressing are highly valued and essential for success in this role. A CPA designation and familiarity with Infor CRM are preferred, and/or experience in the supply chain industry or a related field is considered an asset.
