Venor is proud to partner with our client, New Found Gold Corp (NFGC), in the recruitment of a Senior Operations Manager. Based out of Gander, Newfoundland, NFGC is a leading-edge gold exploration company. The company’s flagship project, the Queensway Gold Project, spans over 175,000 hectares within the emerging Gander Gold Belt.
NFGC is advancing an ambitious exploration program, including an ongoing 650,000-meter drilling initiative planned through 2025. To date, the program has announced 18 zones of significant gold mineralization along the Appleton Fault Zone. Additionally, work is underway to identify new drill targets across approximately 70 km of prospective strike along the Appleton and JBP fault structures on the southern portion of the Queensway property.
Reporting to the President and COO, the Senior Operations Manager will be based out of the company’s Gander office, joining a young and dynamic team. This individual will be hands on in overseeing the day-to-day operations.
Position Responsibilities
- Manage logistics related to both brownfield and greenfield exploration programs including but not limited to drilling, reconnaissance type field work, remote camp management and development projects.
- Leading primarily an exploration team of geologists, technicians and operation support staff you will develop, mentor and provide technical and logistical guidance.
- Manage contracts, contractors and consultants providing services related to but not limited to drilling, geophysics, permitting, development, and technical support.
- Promote team synergy across departments from exploration geological staff, operation support staff, environment and health and safety.
- Ensure synergy with the on-site environmental team guaranteeing operations are in adherence to Newfoundland and Labrador’s environmental policies and regulations while enforcing industry best practices.
- Manage the on-site health and safety team ensuring operations are in adherence to regulatory safe workplace practices while promoting and maintaining a safe working environment for all staff and contractors.
- Contribute to data interpretation, target generation and exploration program planning and design including developing budgets and ensuring programs are completed on time and on budget.
- Make contributions to NI 43-101 reporting.
- Regular reporting and presentation of activities.
Qualifications
- Minimum Bachelors Degree in Geology or similar discipline,
- Ability to lead and manage large multi-disciplinary teams,
- Experience working on advanced exploration projects and mine sites with a track record of operational success,
- Ability to strategize and coordinate complex work programs,
- Technically oriented with a strong geological understanding of orogenic gold systems and structural controls,
- Strong organizational, communication and technical writing skills,
- Experience with NI 43-101 technical reporting and resource estimation,
- Minimum 10 years exploration experience with prior management experience,
- Eligible to acquire professional registration with PEGNL,
- Ability to work independently with limited direct supervision,
- Proficiency with 3-D modelling software (Leapfrog Specific),
- Valid Full Driver’s License,
- Legal to work in Canada.
